Meir Buskila

My mother, Dina Ze'evi immigrated from Turkey in 1949, my father, Massoud Buskila immigrated from Morocco in 1949. They lived in transit camp B in Tiberias. In 1952 they gave birth to twins in the Scottish Hospital in Tiberias. My mother recalls: "One of the twins died after 24 hours. The second, Meir, I breastfed for about a week and he began to gain weight. I arrived the next day to breastfeed him and was told he was sick and was transferred to a hospital in Afula. I went to Afula and came in to nurse the baby, the nurse told me to pump milk for the baby and I did as she said. I remember that in the Scottish hospital there was a nurse named Anna. The fourth time I came to the hospital they said my baby had died. I started crying. I was 17. The doctor came up to us and said ‘You are a young couple, you will have many more children’. We left the hospital and have not heard anything since. We didn't receive death or birth certificates. "
