Moshe and Yona Tan’ami

I was 13 when we arrived in Israel with my parents from Yemen, I remember how in Yemen before boarding the plane they took away our jewellery and books.

Here [in Israel], we arrived at the Rosh Ha’ayin Transit Camp, the baby Yehuda was three-months-old (born in Yemen) he was a healthy child, I remember because I took care of him, he was feeling fine. He was at the nursery of the transit camp the whole time and suddenly one day we were told he was dead. Without a recordt or a body. Nothing.

He has a birthmark on his neck, my mother always said that thanks to that mark she will never lose him.
